In March of 1907, Booker T. Washington was invited to speak to the Theological Department at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. This letter was written to the editor of the New York Weekly Witness in regards to his speech. The speech was later published in The Booker T. Washington Papers edited by Louis R. Harlan and Raymond W. Smock.
