Book Reviews

How do I find Movie Reviews?

Movie Reviews are published in all kinds of popular magazines and even in a few scholarly journals. Below are a few general databases that cover a wide variety of magazines and journals. Be sure to also look at the specialized database in your field or in the field of communications and media in general by clicking on the Articles & More link from the Library homepage and then choosing a database either by subject or from the alphabetical list.

Academic LexisNexis
Academic LexisNexis contains the full text of many newspapers, including the New York Times. To search for movie reviews, click on News button in the top menu on the screen. Choose Book, Movie, Music, Play and Video Reviews from the Sources drop down menu. Putting your film title in quotation marks and specifying a date range can help to narrow your results list.

Academic Search Premier
Academic Search Premier indexes a wide variety of popular and scholarly sources, including many titles that contain movie reviews and commentary. When searching be sure to put the name of your movie in quotes as well as the word review as this may improve the accuracy of your results.

Academic OneFile
Academic OneFile, like Academic Search Premier, indexes a wide variety of popular and scholarly sources, including many titles that contain movie reviews and commentary. When searching be sure to put the name of your movie in quotes as well as the word review as this may improve the accuracy of your results.

If you encounter movie reviews that are not full text in any of the print or electronic resources you have just read about and you wish to locate those materials, use the instructions for finding an article to make your search successful.
