Finding Materials Outside the Samford University Library

Interlibrary Loan

If you can't find the material you need in the Samford University Library or online, you can request it through interlibrary loan. Because interlibrary loan involves the Samford University Library requesting materials from other libraries all over the country, it can take a while for these requests to be processed, so put your orders in early!

Other Local Libraries

Another option is to use the cooperative borrowing agreements that Samford has with other local libraries and check books out and use other materials from another Birmingham area library.

To find out what these other libraries own, you can use a database called WorldCat. Search WorldCat for the material you want and click on the Libraries Worldwide or Libraries worldwide that own item link for the record you are interested in. This will give you a list of libraries that have this item, including Samford. Any Alabama libraries will be listed first, and you can look to see if one of the libraries from the cooperative borrowing list has the item. If they do, you can go to that library and check-out or photocopy the item you need.
