Turabian Basic Citation Guide
This Guide is based
on A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, 6th ed., and addresses both
the Bibliography (B) and Reference List (RL) forms for documentation. If you are using notes,
follow the Bibliography format. If you are using parenthetical references, follow the Reference List
format. For both formats, the first line of the citation is flush left; any runover lines are indented
five spaces.

Reference Book (e.g. Encyclopedia, Handbook, Dictionary)
According to the 6th edition, well-known reference works are not included in
bibliographies and reference lists. Instead, notes or parenthetical references
include the title and edition of the work, but omit the publication information.
Construct your notes or parenthetical expressions like the examples below. The
abbreviation "s.v." means "under the word" and should be used when entries appear
alphabetically. Page numbers are not necessary.
