MLA Basic Citation Guide

This Guide is based on the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 6th ed.

All citations begin flush with the left margin, with all subsequent lines indented 5-7 spaces to create a "hanging indent."

These are basic guides to general types of citations. For accuracy, consult the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 6th ed., available at the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor and also at the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor.
