2.1   Circulation of Reference Materials
Reference materials generally do not circulate.   A professor may check out a reference book, depending on the librarian's judgment and such factors as amount of time needed, topic of the source, use frequency of the source, etc.   Generally, reference books should not circulate for more than a day. A professor must come during Reference Service hours to the Reference Desk. Students may not check out Reference books for faculty. The librarian on duty at the Reference Desk should notify a Circulation staff member (not a student worker) that the Reference material is on its way downstairs for checkout. The Circulation staff member will handle checkout in Millenium. The professor may return the book to the Circulation Desk after her one-day checkout. Reference materials are not loaned on interlibrary loan or sent via resource retrieval. |
